About Do you work at Wal-Mart or know someone who does

Do you work at Wal-Mart or know someone who does?
I am considering working for a Wal-Mart in Mesa, AZ. Me and my fiance just moved to AZ from CA, and only took one car, so now I am forced to find a job within close distance, and Wal-Mart is a big place. I have only professional office experience, nothing in retail. I am wondering what they would start you as and how long does it take to be say a cashier so you can make better pay? Thank you.

Isn't AZ a "right to work" state??? It's kinda hard to answer that question....In CA. and probably other states that aren't like AZ, cashiers start out at a little more than a floor associate - but it all depends what area of the store you work in. Also, if you are hired as a cashier then you will be one. You dont start out like a cart pusher and work your way as a cashier. Whatever you get hired at - that's what you'll do....from there you can work up or change positions
3 :
yep me & my mom
4 :
Ok, first off, let me start by saying, you DO NOT want to work for Wal-Mart!! It is not a good company to work for---trust me, I know, I worked there for 3 1/2 years (started out as a cashier, then moved to the customer service desk after 5 months). They over-work their employees, don't give them the recognition they deserve, their health benefits suck (they would rather hire someone that qualifies for Medicaid than hire a good worker and pay for their health insurance); as far as pay goes, it's not the greatest either---depends on your location, but I worked at a store in Missouri---started out at $6.75/hour, and got to $8.52---that's right, in 3 1/2 years, my raises only totalled $1.77!!! I ended up transferring stores (and taking a .50 pay cut because of it), and finally walked out one day. I found a much better job at the local mall (which, if you're thinking retail, is really the best way to go), where I actually got recognized for my hard work, and was promoted to an Assistant Manager after only 6 months! There are just so many things that are screwed up about that place----you should check this guy out---he started a blog when he got hired at Wally World, and in the beginning, he was all happy, and "I love my job", but that changed quickly. Anyways, it would give you some insight to how the company really works......(plus he's really funny....) http://www.behindthecounter.com/2004_08_01_archive.html Also, check out the w-m workers online forum...... http://www.walmart-blows.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 Seriously, if it's the only option, do what you have to, but just know that you have been forewarned---if you want to keep your sanity, Wal-Mart is not a good place to work for!!!
5 :
starting pay varies by location and your prior work history, 75% of Wal-mart managers started out as hourly clerks ...so there are oportunities for advancement. Raises are based on job performance at 90 days and annualy thereafter (usually 40-60 cent bumps) doing a good job give you a chance to apply for higher pay grade jobs in the store when they open ....like any job it depends on how much effort you put into it.

About Does anyone work at Chuck E Cheese

Does anyone work at Chuck E Cheese?
I am applying at different places and was thinking about Chuck E Cheese. Does anyone work or know someone who works at the one in Mesa, AZ? It's been 2 weeks since I applied. I'm over 18 years old. Any tips to get hired?

Why don't you call the store to follow-up on your application if you haven't heard? If a place says they are always accepting applications, yours might be stuck in a pile somewhere. It's always good to follow-up with them since it shows that you REALLY want the job. My ex worked at one in Burbank, CA and they made him wear the mouse suit. If you don't mind that... Go for it! haha

Hey buddy, it's going to be tough to get an actual job in this economy, but check with some local neighbors, or a retirement community. Older people usually have money, see if you can help take care of an elderly person's yardwork or household chores for a little extra cash.

most places for 15 yr olds are in fast food or bustboy for restaurants most clothes are 18 and older
3 :
You catch more flies with honey... You can't "give a really low rating." All you can do is give 1 thumbs down, which does nothing. Try reposting this question in an Arizona category.
4 :
im not sure at what age they hire but a bunch of my friends work at jc penny, maybe you could give there a try? theyre 16 - 18 yrs old by the way.
5 :
My sister went from McDonald's to JC Penney's. Of course, it was in Kentucky Penney's, and she was an Ohioan, and not from Arizona.

About Are there any good child care facilities that are open late in Mesa or Tempe, AZ

Are there any good child care facilities that are open late in Mesa or Tempe, AZ?
I am looking for a good day care/preschool for my 2 year old son that is open late and/or on weekends. I live near Mc Clintock and Guadalupe in Tempe, AZ and work near Broadway and Alma School in Mesa, so I am looking for suggestions somewhere close to or between those locations. Thanks!

I think maybe you should find a new job if you can't even take the weekends off to spend with your child nights and weekends to be in daycare is to much my daughter is in daycare but only during the week weekends is family time. and if he is there at night how is going ot get to bed or have dinner not a good idea in my opinion. try a family member or a friend

I don't know what the name is but you know where the Ross is over on Alma School and Southern? Next to RT o Sullivan's something home! Anyways it open 24 hours a day 7 Days a week!

About What zip codes in Gilbert/Chandler are best

What zip codes in Gilbert/Chandler are best?
I'm moving to the Phoenix area, and will be working in Mesa but have been told unanimously to buy in Gilbert or Chandler. Problem is, they are both much larger than the towns I'm used to on the east coast. What zip codes and developments would you recommend? Or, which ones should I avoid?

you should def. buy in Gilbert area!! 85234 east mesa is ok, i would jus aviod living in Mesa, everything is old and dirty, and had lots of problems. i love gilbert! everythings nice ther, anywher in gilbert, everythings pretty new
3 :
Well that all depends on how much you are willing to spend. Obviously, the more money you are willing to spend, the better the location and neighborhood. I absolutely love Chandler, but if you live in South Chandler it can be quite a drive from Phoenix and Tempe. Same goes for Gilbert which is newer. Just off my own bias, I would choose Chandler. I've grown up there and love it.

Gilbert 85233 is heavily newer type residental homes with some higher end type new apartments.

About Will any 300w step-down transformer work reliably with a 50w Mesa Boogie valve amp

Will any 300w step-down transformer work reliably with a 50w Mesa Boogie valve amp?
I've just bought a F-50 Mesa Boogie valve combo in Japan that I want to use in Australia. Other than replacing the mains transformer (I had in mind Mercury Magnetics), there are a LOT of step-downs on eBay. I don't want to buy one that will melt on me or blow the amp, but I don't want to pay too much, nor carry a "brick" either. Suggestions please O.o

I thought that the mains supply in Japan was 110V or so. If that is the case then you need a step-up transformer. Any 300W, 100 to 230V transformer will be ok.

you would have to contact them and ask them that. you can also search it using google or any other search engine. If you do call, usually they are easily reached and you can actually talk to a real person rather than a machine.
2 :
No, you have to be at least 18. 13 is too young to work anywhere here in OC unless you want to work for some creepy Mexican guy.

I love Good Will and the other thrift shops, too. But when I want better quality clothing, I go to Once Upon A Child. The one I go to is on Val Vista and Baseline in Mesa. I believe there is one in Chandler, too, but I don't know where that one is. Go to OUAC.com. You'll be able to find out where the other shops are. You can also sign up for their emailing list. Have fun!
