About Volunteer work to a non profit community oriented service

Volunteer work to a non profit community oriented service?
I did a traffic violation/beating the red light and I need to do a volunteer work. I live in la mesa, california. Do you have any ideas where I could do this. I am a nursing student too. It would be nice if the volunteer work is related to health, but if not its okay. THANKS FOR HELPING ME.

try asking the local police where to volunteer or try looking in your local phone book...
2 :
at a church or synagogue
3 :
Try the meals on wheels in the phone book - it may be under not for proft or non-profit or social service agencies.
4 :
do research on the internet to see if there is a domestic violence shelter for battered women and their children. I volunteered at a place like this once and it opened up my eyes!!! It went by so fast and I learned so much about psychology. Good Luck!!!

ok: with the " Community's Retirement Centers they are Non Profit Organization that needs Volunteer Workers yes & it's very important " visit http://www.community.retirementcenters.org
6 :
Go to www.volunteermatch.org, enter La Mesa, and you will find many up to date opportunities. Hope the volunteer work continues even after your penalty hours are complete!

Volunteer San Diego is your local volunteer center. They can help connect you with all sorts of projects. http://www.volunteersandiego.org They have a nice variety of projects that are very convenient for people with standard work schedules, with a lot of stuff on evenings and weekends. You can even filter the projects on the calendar for just the East County stuff. Good luck!

Look up anything you can think of---Use your imagination. Abuse shelters, SPCAs, homeless shelters, hospitals, historical societies, nonprofit groups. Check the phone book and the internet for any of these items near you. Perhaps you could ask at local offices and organizations if they know of any nonprofit groups---Often, they'll have some suggestions you hadn't thought of. I work for a local nonprofit museum, and we take community service workers. Often, they don't think of us, but when they do, we're glad to have the help.

Depending on how much you want to spend, what do you want to rent an apartment or a condo or a house? $ Costa Mesa, Tustin, Santa Ana $$ Huntington Beach $$$ Irvine, Newport you can check on www.apartments.com or www.forrent.com or www.rent.com

How about Costa Mesa. It is a nice city. I live there. The area West of Harbor, south of the municipal golf course is the lowest cost area. I live in that area. The area east of Harbor and north of Adams is nicer though. Look on www.craigslist.org for places. To give you an idea, I pay $1220 a month for an 800 sq. ft. 2 bedroom 1/2 duplex with a single garage and a small fenced yard. The only place cheaper in the OC is in Santa Ana.

The Cape Apartments are by South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Another great place is Huntington Beach. Check Craiglist.org and you will find rentals or even people looking for room mates. My buddy has a dog and that is how he found a great place. Good Luck!
